It was also reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had fled Kyiv in the wake of the first wave of Russian attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chinese media then dutifully relayed the Russian assertions that reports of torture and killings of Ukrainian&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2022\/4\/4\/will-the-bucha-massacre-wake-up-the-world\">civilians in the town of Bucha<\/a>, near Kyiv, were \u201dfake news\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All the while, the invasion was, and still is, being referred to as a \u201cspecial military operation\u201d, just as in Russian media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><iframe title=\"Thousands of Chinese nationals waiting to leave Ukraine\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/q_nZF1XT4-M?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
