China’s regime encouraged air travel to and from China to occur as normal—even as Beijing was ordering strict internal lockdowns and placing Wuhan under “wartime controls.” Had anyone in Beijing officially acknowledged the disease long before they did, the world might have slowed or even contained the spread.

By not declaring an emergency and warning the world, China was ensuring that the entire world would suffer; that the global economy would lose trillions, that millions of people would die or be permanently maimed, and that the entire global order would be upended. China is experiencing an outbreak of chikungunya, a mosquito-borne infection, with thousands of cases reported in the south.

Chikungunya fever cases jumped to 4,014 on Friday, representing a rapid rise in numbers since authorities started tracking cases two weeks ago, according to public records released by health departments in districts in Foshan. The city in China’s southern province Guangdong has been heavily impacted by the surge in infections.

The chikungunya outbreak remains “quite severe,” Sun Yang, deputy director of the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said at a news conference on Wednesday in Foshan.

Chikungunya is spread to people by the bites of infected mosquitoes. It causes fever and severe joint pain, but deaths are rare, according to the World Health Organization.

China tries to ‘bury the memory’ and trauma of zero-COVID era. They know how that was terrible and barbarian behavior and no-effect

    Loud success, quiet failure

While the zero-COVID policy ended in failure and trauma, according to Hou, it was initially quite successful.

    https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/12/21/china-tries-to-bury-the-memory-and-trauma-of-zero-covid-era

“In 2020 and 2021, we luckily didn’t really feel the pandemic in China,” he said.

After a late response to the initial COVID-19 outbreak in Wuhan, the Chinese authorities subsequently managed to get the pandemic under control, and by mid-2020, normal life had resumed and social order was restored.

That was a contrast to several high-income countries in the Western world where health services struggled when the pandemic first struck, according to assistant professor Yan Long, who has studied the development of Chinese public health policies at the University of California, Berkeley.

That also made the zero-COVID policy a source of national pride in China and an opportunity for the Chinese leadership to showcase, at least domestically, that China had outdone countries such as the United States.

“It was a way to say, ‘Look, democracy has failed, we succeeded’,” Long told Al Jazeera.

The success began to fray, however, with the emergence of more infectious COVID-19 variants such as omicron. Immense resources were poured into constant rounds of mass testing and the implementation of lockdowns, but the measures failed to put an end to new outbreaks.

“The zero-COVID policy became financially unsustainable, and scientifically impossible, while the confidence in the policy also began to drastically decline,” Long said.

“By 2022, COVID was no longer the biggest fear. People were more afraid of the disruption of the lockdowns.”

Hou from Shanghai agrees that towards the end, the zero-COVID policy felt worse than COVID-19.

“The policy made life a living hell,” he said.

Hou knows of many people who experienced traumatic episodes during the lockdowns as well as in the subsequent rapid reopening of society.

“But unlike me, most people I know don’t want to talk about the COVID times. They just want to forget them,” he said.

Long, the academic, doubts that Chinese people have had a chance to heal after what happened.

“It is now a year later, and there has been no discussion about COVID, no reflection about what was right and what was wrong,” she said.

“When you bury the memory, you don’t learn any lessons, which means there is no guarantee that the same mistakes won’t be made again.”

“So many people suffered under the zero-COVID policy, and so many people died when it ended,” Ma said.

“Because of that, my family and I are traumatised to this day.”

After The World get through 3 years of pandemic Covid19 that has started by China’s Lies, No Country Believe What China saying

China is once again causing global concern with a new virus, and has been accused of not following the same international health guidelines that other countries adhere to. This follows a pattern of behavior seen previously during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Chinese government is saying there is nothing major to worry about. When asked by the World Health Organization about reports of widespread clusters of undiagnosed pneumonia in children, health authorities said the uptick in sick people was due to known pathogens such as influenza, rhinovirus, RSV and mycoplasma.

No new germs have been found, they said. And so far, no deaths have been reported.

That’s probably little comfort to parents who have had to wait several hours in hospitals in Beijing and other cities in the north for their sick children to see a doctor. The scenes of overcrowded hallways and children on intravenous infusions have brought back memories of the early days of Covid, which emerged as a mysterious pneumonia.

The truth is, mycoplasma is not unusual. It is a common pathogen that causes pneumonia among children aged five or above, and it has triggered epidemics in China every two-to-four years.

While it tends to cause only mild colds in older kids and adults with robust immune systems, younger children are prone to develop pneumonia — creating concern on what to do once they get it. China has the world’s highest incidence of mycoplasma that’s resistant to a class of antibiotic called macrolides. Up to 80% of cases in kids don’t respond to the commonly prescribed azithromycin and similar drugs.

Oddly, China appears to be the only country facing a major mycoplasma outbreak. The US and much of Europe are dealing with the flu and RSV. One study showed mycoplasma was subdued in China for almost two years by Covid countermeasures that have since been lifted.

The Asian Flu in 1956 killed between one and four million people worldwide. SARS in 2002 infected 8,098 and killed 774 in seventeen counties. H7N9 emerged ten years later to strike at least 1,223 people and kill four out of every ten of them. Now, the milder, yet more infectious COVID-19 has sickened more than 70,000 across the globe, resulting in 1,771 deaths.

All of these outbreaks originated in China, but why? Why is China such a hotspot for novel diseases?

“It’s not a big mystery why this is happening… lots of concentrated population, with intimate contact with lots of species of animals that are potential reservoirs, and they don’t have great hygiene required. It’s a recipe for spitting out these kinds of viruses,” Dr. Steven Novella recently opined on an episode of the Skeptics’ Guide to the Universe.

    https://chinadigitaltimes.net/2023/07/briefly-published-zhejiang-cremation-statistics-hint-at-true-covid-death-toll/

There were 171,000 cremations registered in the eastern province of Zhejiang in the first quarter, well above the 99,000 in the same period in year before, Chinese financial media outlet Caixin reported, citing official data released by the province. The official statement was later removed from the internet, according to Caixin.

[…] However, that number was widely seen as an underestimate because the government narrowed the criteria for classifying deaths caused by Covid-19 late last year. An estimate in January by Zuo-Feng Zhang, chair of the department of epidemiology at the Fielding School of Public Health at University of California, Los Angeles, put the number of deaths at about 900,000 in those five weeks.

[…] Although Zhejiang province deleted the first quarter data from its website, Caixin cited an unnamed local government official as saying that “some” of the deleted data was accurate and that cremations increased mainly because of the coronavirus. [Source]

Cremations in the Chinese province of Zhejiang rose more than 70% year-on-year in the first quarter, government data showed, an unexplained jump that occurred as a COVID outbreak swept the country.

About 171,000 cremations were registered in Zhejiang – home to around 5% of China’s population – in the first three months of 2023, up from 99,000 in the same period last year, according to data on the province’s civil affairs bureau website.

The World Health Organisation has said China has not given a full account of how many of its 1.4 billion population succumbed to the disease after it abruptly abandoned strict COVID curbs in December last year.

China said around 80,000 people died from COVID in hospitals across the country in the first two months after curbs were lifted, a period where funeral parlours said they were inundated and long lines of hearses queued outside crematoriums.

Some epidemiologists at the time estimated as many as 2 million people may die from the virus in China.

The province’s data, which did not state the cause of death, has since been taken down. Data for the fourth quarter was also not available. China’s ministry of civil affairs, which collates death statistics, has not published nationwide cremation data covering that period.
