China has continued to get to grips with the COVID-19 pandemic. Overnight a district on 1 million people in the city of Wuhan has been put back in to lockdown with strict measures being put in place. These kinds of measures have dented the economy, business confidence, and people’s willingness to travel.
As China holds firm in its zero-COVID approach, discrimination against those who have tested positive is rampant. Some even find themselves homeless and jobless. Now, the government is trying to tackle the stigma, but it won’t be easy.

In the past four years, China’s global image, which had been positive or at least neutral in many parts of the globe for the previous two decades, has deteriorated extensively. For more than two years we have lived through a pandemic that no one — no one who doesn’t fall for Communist Chinese propaganda anyway — doubts came from China.
In fact, the consensus now is that COVID came from the Wuhan lab, something I wrote about in these pages at the outset of the outbreak. In recent months, many of those who had earlier parroted Beijing’s line about COVID coming from a bat cave, including China’s man at the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus, have come over to my point of view.
At the same time, there is mounting evidence that the coronavirus was developed as part of China’s bioweapons program.

Fears Persist for Shanghai Doctor Who Blasted ‘Political Virus’
First and foremost, consider the possibility that Chinese authorities have become maniacal hypochondriacs, and, like most top-down authoritarian regimes, have engaged in irrational and destructive policymaking.
In the Chinese governmental system, there are very few guardrails to authoritarian behavior, so virtually nothing would be *too extreme* if the ends justify the means. China’s continuing ideology contends that individual rights are not of a concern. In fact, according to the CCP, this ideal of human freedom should be actively suppressed for the “greater good” of the state.

If there is one thing we can learn from the Xi Jinping led Chinese Communist Party (CCP), it is how to manipulate existing sources of information into making them portray China as the benevolent leader; a patriotic state willing to protect its citizens against the perils that ail the “Western” world. For a long time now, the Chinese state has had but one purpose – to control how domestic and international markets narrativise the nature of this state. This is done through intensive state-backed military, technological and economic exercises, with no use of Soft-power, whatsoever. Herewith, I discuss how the CCP exercises nationalism as an ideology to cater to the masses, along with the past and the processes that have led to the successful implementation of this propaganda.
